Question for Auto Body gurus.

Got a quick question for the guys who have body work experience. A friend of mine was driving on the highway a few weeks back when she swerved to avoid something and sideswiped the car next to her. The drivers side door of her car hit on the front passenger tire of the car she hit, while they where both going at highway speeds.

Now, she's got a giant circular black mark on her car from the other guy's tire grinding into her door. There's not really much in the way of physical damage, no real dent. The car's like a 95 Neon or something, and there was no insurance involved, so she doesn't wanna take it to a shop. I said I might be able to help her try and get it out.

Now, I've used rubbing compound before, to get paint scuffs out of paint, from parking lot dings and whatnot...and it's worked well most every time. Would that stuff work in this application? Any good tips for getting rubber burn marks off paint? Thanks in advance for any help.

I've used rubbing compound to remove paint scuffs and also some black smear from something.. assuming rubber (someone did a hit and run on me while I wasn't around). Rubbing compound has worked out for me... if that doesn't work.. maybe clay bar? I've used a clay bar to remove tar from my car before. Although for tar, i'm assuming there were other better ways, but my claybar was already dirty, and decided to give it a shot 🙂.
