Hey all - I'm just curious to anyone who's played - what are your recommendations as to how to build your characters as far as what Dressphere they are using.

I'm only ~5 hours into the game and I'm still in chapter 1, but I just want to get a good idea of what's good to use so that I don't master something that's going to be useless for nothing...

Thanks! :)

My roomate's brother was playing that the other day.

I nominate it for goofiest game ever.

Final Fantasy characters singing with a microphone. What would Cyan say?

Bad thing to point out. Celes did basically the same thing during the Opera house scene in the World of Balance. FF3/6

Back to the OP, I like using the smallest possible sphere grid so that I can hit the overdrive sphere quickly.

I just build up whatever I want to...I don't worry about min/maxing.

BTW, getting wmage and songstress on your characters should be easy. Hint: The you can hold the x button down.

I can't believe they turned the great Final Fantasy series into Barbie and Britney's final fantasy dress up..

I don't think the game is anything like that. It's a traditional FF game with a more open ended, adventure aspect. Sorry there aren't any hunky guys for you to look at.

I can't believe you are commenting on a game that you clearly haven't played.

edit: for OP, once you get the white mage dresssphere, just go level build with only one person as a white mage.. have them keep using the pray command. It will keep your party's HP high enough that you won't have to pay attention to it and the WM gains AP for using it. Then just have the other two use any command that nets AP. If you have 3 white mages at once, it's quite easy to master white mage in a single (albeit long) battle.

It was only letting me master one skill per battle. I would have to finally kill the monster and start another battle to get the next skill.

In a must win situation, I'd go with 2 Dark Knights and 1 Alchemist.

But to answer your question, just play normally and don't worry about which dress sphere is useless. However, I might add that I think the most useless dress sphere is probably Warrior since Dark Knight is just so much insanely stronger and tougher and can damage multiple enemies at the same time.

Gunner can be useless pretty much the entire game if you don't get a certain item at the end, but then that item makes the game *VERY* easy (like kill just about anything in the first couple of shots).

Blue Mage is kinda pointless since the best skills that can be learned are too toublesome to get cuz you have to be hit with it FROM THE ENEMY to learn it. i.e. Mighty Gourd

Thief is may also be pointless because you can get a Garment Grid that lets anyone use Mug.

Samurai is decent but overall not that great compared to Dark Knight.

Berserker is pretty much in the same rank of Samurai.

Songstress is pretty much the most useless Dress Sphere. The dancing effects only last as long as the turn so there are no lasting effects. Even a Songstress that throws out items would be more useful. However, I'll add that I like to see them dance anyway so I really don't mind it. Ha Ha.

Oh, and Black Mage is pretty weak also. Not only does it take forever to try and max out, but most enemies take the same amount of damage from Dark Knight's Darkness.

However, really just play it normally. Make sure you visit everyplace on each chapter at least once.

You can turn off transformation after you've oggled at them the first 10 times or so. ;)

What item are you talking about for the Gunner? I'm on my second time through (for 100% completion) and I must have missed that item.

So far I've mastered white mage with Yuna, Warrior with Paine, and all of the Gun Mage skills (aside from Blue Bullet) w/ Rikku.

Now I'm working Gunner with Yuna, Dark Knight with Paine, and trying to play around with Alchemist on Rikku.

So far so good - just finished Chapter 2 at around level 27-28 and haven't had too tough of a battle yet! :)

Make sure you have the accessories to increase and stop monster encounters. Also stock up on some cheap potions, then reduce everyone to the W-Mage dressphere, heal, and fight!

Chapter 5, Bevelle, Underground Labyrinth, 100 levels, beat that and I'll be impressed. Took me forever.
