when pc1066 will be widely available?
will agp8x cards be backwardly compatable?
intel granite bay chipset (insted of current 850)-will it increase overall system performance?

Very good question. I think that yes we will see a performance increase, but to be quite honest, I can't expect it to be huge (I'm thinking>10%) and It will hardly be worth the premium compared to PC1066 and 850e.

To be totally accurate, AGP 8X is only backward compatible to AGP 4X. As far as I know, an 8X card can only run at 4x or 8x, and an 8x slot can only accept 4x or 8x cards. Of course, most anybody buying a motherboard with 8x isn't going to be trying to use a 2x-only video card, unless they're just going for server performance with graphics being secondary.
