Question for anyone using nForce2 onboard sound

I just got an Abit NF7-S to replace my dying Epox (leaking capacitors). I've done a clean install of WinXP SP1 and installed the latest nForce2 drivers from nVidia's website, v4.24. Everything seems to be running pretty well except I'm having a couple problems with the onboard Soundstorm audio.

1.)
I've got a Leadtek Winfast TV2000XP Deluxe connected to the line-in jack on the back of the motherboard. The problem is that the line-in audio is too loud even at low settings. With the line-in slider set to just one tick above minimum, the volume is about average. Going any higher than that and the volume is too loud. I've searched various forums and found other people having the same problem, but I haven't been able to find a solution yet, if there exists one. This is irritating because I'm basically limited to three audio levels: none, medium, and loud. I would like to have finer adjustments.

2.)
When I run my TV program I only get sound from the front 2 speakers; the same goes for Windows sounds (folder clicks, startup, shutdown, etc). I know these sounds aren't supposed to be surround but even when I had my old SBLive! I would get the front speaker sounds duplicated to the rear speakers. Oddly enough, I get output from all 4 speakers when I play an MP3 in Winamp. I've checked to make sure that I have the 4 speaker setup with the "clone" setting enabled in the NVMixer audio control panel. Also, under sound devices in the Windows control panel, it's set to quadraphonic speakers.

I'd appreciate any help you guys could give me. This is the first board I've ever used Soundstorm on so I'm still learning all the settings and quirks of it.

I'm using whatever BIOS came with the board. I can check to see what version it is if you guys think that makes a difference.

Thanks

For issue 1) the volume may be affected/controlled by the output of the device (TV tuner card). I use my line-in to connect a second PC to one set of speakers on my main rig. I have twice the control because I can adjust the volume on both computers. See if there is a volume control for your TV tuner card maybe.

For issue 2) I have no idea, I honestly never pay attention to my Windows sounds more than just knowing they are there. I use a 5.1 setup, and I doubt they play from all speakers. So for this issue I can't really help.

Good luck!
