I sent a 10.1gb drive that is no longer spinning up.
(putting you ear next to it, you can hear it having trouble spinning up, sounds like it's powering up and then down, so obviously it's the drive itself)

Anyways, here's my status:

Rcvd Item Rcvd Qty Rcvd Date
AC310100-00RNN1 1 05-JAN-2001

Ship Item AC310100-00RNN1
Ship Qty Waybill #
Ship Date N/A Carrier Airborne day

They definitely received my drive, and it looks like they are sending a replacement that's the same model or fixed my drive.

My question is: If they found nothing wrong, or did not accept the drive because of the packaging, would it say they're returning the dead drive to me on the status page?

Yeah I suppose I could wait and see but I'm awfully paranoid and would like to know :)

Trust me on this. They're going to send you a brand new one - the latest 10,000 rpm model they make. But it's going to be damaged in shipping, and you'll have to fight with them for weeks to get it settled. Finally, because of the downturn in PC business, they'll go broke and you'll just be another unsecured creditor hoping to get a few pennies on the dollar for your shipping claim.

Sluggo:

Nothing, it really doesn't spin up (if you listen to it, it's even more obvious).

The box I used was proper corrogated cardboard, but it was used previously so I think a little bit of the cover(none of the corrogation) was taken off when I pulled off some old tape, but I wrapped new tape around all the edges and corners. I'm just paranoid they'll use that as some reason to invalidate the RMA even though there's no way that could possibly damage the drive during shipping.

It was originally a package from Quantum, that included the preformed foam just for shipping hard drives, so the hard drive was fit right in nice and snug and had at least 2 inches if not more of foam on all sides.

They signed for the drive on the 2nd, and received it in the 5th, and today the status page changed to what I posted at the top of this thread. I'm trying to figure out if I'm getting an identical but new/refurbished drive or if they're just shipping mine back. It would have helped if the model # wasn't the same. :)

See how paranoid I am?
