I am seriously considering this case but have a quick question regarding the included 120mm Tricool fans. On Antec's website it says that they have both the small 3-pin power connectors that connect to the motherboard and also the 4-pin Molex connectors. On all the review sites I look it, all I can see is the 4-pin Molex connector. Can you conect these fans to the motherboard and do they have RPM monitoring ability?

Thanks!!

The only power connector on those fans are 4-pin, so no mobo connectivity for you. They also have a switch that allows you to set the fan speed to high, medium, or low. I'm sure there is some place online that tells you about what RPM high, medium, and low really are about.

The stock fans that come with the P180 are only molex and should be replaced anyway. Well at least if you care about noise...

high - jet turbine loud
medium- still to loud for me
low- quiet but moves barely any air :(

Just get some yate loons and sell the stock fans on Ebay - I fetched $10 shipped for each of my stock fans!!! Seriously - people will buy them!

Thanks for the info--thanks a great idea to sell the fans on Ebay--extra 120mm fans aren't to cheap.

Dont wanna high jack ur thread but i also have a question about this case, It has all the motherboard stand offs already installed, should i used those or should i use the ones that come with my motherboard?

The ones that are installed in the case already look different, just wanna make sure.

If you replace the stock fans before you even use them you can sell them as "NEW" like I did. I listed them as: "New 120mm Antec Tri-cool 3 speed adjustable fan" The lower chamber 38mm thick fan fetched me $16 shipped! :Q

I actually made a profit buying yate loons for my P180! So I took the extra $$$ and got a sunbeam rheabus fan controller.

I bought some 120mm Tr-cool fans at Fry's Electronics and they came with BOTH connections on them.

The ones with the case DO NOT come with 3 pin connectors. It's better that way. Many people have trouble in the long run, when fans start getting dusty and end up drawing more current from the mobo, and eventually frying it.

I'm using them on low and have no problems. You'd get much better performance by using thermal tape to seal up the excess vents. (vga vent, psu surrounding vents).

And if you want yate loons cheap, look at jabatech. I think they have them for 3 or 4 dollars.

Another question--I am planning on getting either the Asus P5W (the 975X) or the P5B (the 965) board for my new Conroe build and both boards have the 4 pin 12V connector way at the top of the board abvoe the CPU. I am considering power supply cable lengths and it looks that with at least a few of the power supplies, the 12V cable will be too short.

Any good places to find 12V cable extenders--or do any of you have suggestions for power supplies with long 12V cables?

You mean the 4pin 12v connector? yeah i had the same problem with my D975xbx and the seasonic S12 and P180. You're in luck because 4pin connectors are relatively easy to comeby. Just google 4pin 12v atx extension or eps connector or something. Mine was a 8pin connector. It was literally a nightmare to find. www.mycableshop.ca is great if you're in canada. local pickup if you can drive to whitby.
