Question for an Electrical Engineer resume

Hi,

So I've graduated out of UCSD for 6 months now with an EE degree with no leads and I need to make a drastic change to my resume. The only problem is that the only relevant engineering experience I have is a senior project working at Northrop Grumman. Since I am applying for an entry-level engineering position, I put down my engineering skills and courses that I took. I also put down the only work experience I had, which is retail (circuit city and sears). For an entry-level engineering position, do I not put down my retail experience. How about putting down courses that I took relevant to EE? I know it's hard to find an entry-level engineering job, but I need to make my resume stand out better and get rid of irrelevant information.

I would say putting down the retail position can be acceptable only if you write in some impressive sounding tasks that you performed there. Something that would show that you are a leader or you are a good team player. Also, you can list some of the projects you completed during your education if you have extra space available.

dont really know since i still have about 3 years till i graduate, but nice ride and home theater 🙂. and you should have had done some more projects/talked to companies wayyy before you graduated.

did you have any significant projects in school? i would put down those and your role in them (assuming you did good work in them)

Yeah, waiting until after you graduate to start looking for a job isn't good. Especially if your only experience credential is a senior project and no co-ops or internships.

Look around for any experiences/credentials you have had that relate to the particular job you're applying for. If you put something in that doesn't have anything to do with your career directly, tie it in somehow. For example, stress the development of people-skills in your retail job, or something like that.

Edit: Any projects you were involved in, major or minor, are good things to put down.

What kind of EE job are you looking for. I look for coursework with relevant projects in combination with work experience for recent college grads. So don't just put down a course, put down what projects you did in the course in some detail, highlighting the various skills.
And also you need to know your sh!t at least as it relates to the job function you are applying to. It doesn't hurt to review before your phone interview.
