Question for all you asian ricers out there:

When making rice, do you follow the instructions on the bag and not rinse the talc off the rice?

I don't know any asian that doesn't completely wash the rice until the water is clear.
 
lol, he admitted to being an asian ricer... 😛.... i rinse the rice once, then i either steam it in water or chicken broth...
 
I clean it until the water's clear. Sometimes the cover on the rice kernels are still present and you don't wanna be eating on that. I don't know how nonasian folks like their rice though.
 
Put the rice in a stainless steel bowl and pour water to cover it completely. Let it soak for 5 minutes. Then drain by using your hand as a filter (leaving a little water in the bowl). Then pour more water on it and drain again. Repeat one or two more times. Then after the last draining put it in the cooker and do it. It won't be clear, but its enough so that the rice won't be as starchy and sticky.
