Does the northbridge fan on the IC7 (base model, not MAX series) use mounting clips? I know it's loud so if it uses clips I could put a Zalman copper passive NB heatsink on it.

If you have pictures of the northbridge mounting mechanism that would be nice.

Thank you!

I have the IC7-G and I use the zalmn copper heatsink. Mine used the wierd clips. There's a way to rig up the zalman to clip on (I believe it involves taking a dremel to the corner of the heatsink, to attach clips) , but I just used epoxy, it was easier. Heh.

I'm a little confused. You just used epoxy on the edges of the heatsink and then used cooling grease in the middle? :camera:'s?

That would worry me. If it's not getting warm at ALL, that means very little heat is being transferred. Surely the NB is doing something to warrant a fan that fast.

If you put your finger near the base of the HS, is it warmer there?

Yeah, it's a little warmer at the base... That thing just never gets very warm. Neither does my CPU heatsink. My video heatsink gets freakin blazin' ass though. It'll raise my case temps like 6C. heh.
