Well, the only things I quoted where posts from this topic so...yeah, maybe you're right about that one.
Also trying to pretend that only a 8700k at well over 5Ghz is any alternative to ryzen makes you seem terribly biased and not me.
You do realize that the whole point of the thread is weighing the option of upgrading from Ryzen to an 8700K, right? You wouldn't ask that if you were trying to push Ryzen as being equal.
No, what he said was I got ryzen because intel is too hot,how can you tell from that if he got ryzen at launch as he said right now or if he got it after realizing that intel is "too hot" ?
I couldn't tell, but I also couldn't tell if he got it recently. He just confirmed he got it at launch, so basically everything you've put in this thread is a non-sequitur. You're arguing that the OP should have made a choice that didn't exist when he bought the CPU. If your point is that the 8700K is faster, well I'm pretty sure that the OP of a thread asking how much benefit they'll get from upgrading to an 8700K is on the same page.

I'm curious.. how many 8700k will hit 5.3ghz or 5.2ghz on air cooling? 212 evo or noctua or something similar.

Is it even possible?

What are the chances?

404 point not found...

"everything you've put in this thread is a non-sequitur"
Everything I said stands no matter if someone upgrades or not,you don't need to push the 8700k to well over 5Ghz,at the same clocks as the ryzen the 8700k will be just as cool as the ryzen, those are facts that have nothing to do with someone upgrading or not.
"You're arguing that the OP should have made a choice that didn't exist when he bought the CPU"
Where did I do that, quote me please...
"If your point is that the 8700K is faster, well I'm pretty sure that the OP of a thread asking how much benefit they'll get from upgrading to an 8700K is on the same page."
Only he didn't ask that,he asked how feasible it is to reach 5.3-5.2Ghz with zero info on the why.

A mod has already warned you for arguing in this thread.
Now stay out of the thread.

Your chances of hitting 5.2 - 5.3GHz on air cooling are slim to none. Even with a high end AIO, most 8700Ks top out around 5.1GHz, with good chips getting 5.2GHz. Delidding would help, but 5.2GHz is still by no means guaranteed.

Now would I upgrade from Ryzen to CFL for high Hz gaming? That depends on the game, but the latest PUBG results are at 6:18

Judging by those numbers, it probably isn't worth upgrading to me. Yes, the 8700K is faster, but Ryzen already gets 100fps+ min fps.

Especially if you want AVX stability, that makes high overclocks very tough.
