Question : Do F@H and Seti like each other?

I'm currently a member of Rage3d's F@H team but I'm willing to give them only 50% of my CPU time and let Seti for AT have the other half but not if they won't play nice.

Any advice from the gallery?

Thanks

I'm not aware of any easy way the throttle the CPU such that each client only gets 50% of the power; of course if a machine in question were dual-cpu then you could just configure the SETI client to run on CPU2 via the cmdline parameter for the CLI client, and let F@H run on CPU1.

Yeah... SETI is sortof a hog... But if you're running 2K or XP Pro, in the past, I've been able to run SETI at "low" and F@H at "normal" or sometimes "above normal" (assuming a single CPU) and could get F@H to use a bit more processor time. You'd have to play with it though...

Hmmmm, actually the question arose because I see that in the F@H client one can give whatever percentage of the CPU to the client they wish with a slider bar. There is also the priority option but I like knowing who gets what.

Hmmm.....thanks for the help guys....I'll keep my ears open.

Um.. what slider bar are you talking about? What version of the F@H client are you using? 😕

Version 3.01, built June 14th.

One the advanced tab there is a slider bar for what % you want to use of your CPU.

I believe that's the new FAH3 client which is a combined G@H + F@H client. Haven't had chance to try it yet... 🙂

Ah... that explains a bunch - I'm using 2.19.. no such slider bar feature. 😉

Well, I'll wait until the current unit finishes and then upgrade. 🙂
