Question concerning domains and roaming profiles please assist if you can =/

Ok.. Yesterday.. I made some errors... er I mean changes to my system in an attempt to link a couple systems together via crossover cable.. in all that.. I made them part of the same workgroup (usually part of a domain). Now I'd like to change my system back to connecting to that domain.. but it won't let me do that.. I don't connect to that particular network but the profile associated with that account has all my stuff . Is there a way to 'force' my computer into becoming part of a domain it does not see or do I have to reconnect to that network and set it from there? Right now when i go into the network stuff under system info.. it shows both those accounts as 'unknown'. Thanks.

Using Win2k on both systems btw..
