Question bout memory usage in W98?

I've got 1024mbs(twas real cheap!) of PC2100 memory running in W98 by restricting VCACHE in System.ini to 512mbs(MaxFileCache=524288). I've got a ATi AIW 128pro with
32mbs of video RAM & my Agp Aperture Size is set at 64mbs. Is the AAS mapped inside the 512mbs of RAM set aside for my VCACHE, or is it mapped inside the other 512mbs of system RAM? If the former is true I reckon I should leave my AAS at 64mbs. If the latter is the case then I'm thinking I could up my AAS to 128 or 256mbs & this would be a win-win situation. I've seen some studies that recommend larger AAS if ya can afford it... TIA!

It is the former (System Ram).

Boosting the AGP Aperture size depends on the Video card and system configuration.
It either works great or does not make a difference.

Sure hope you diabled the SWAP FILE with all that ram and using 98.

why, for the love of god are u trying to run a win98 system with 1 GB of mem ??
at least go for an NT based OS, those can properly handle that high amounts of memory, anyway I hope u amuse yerself with they IE taking up 98% of yer memory

LiLithTech - Thanx for the answer, I set my AAS to 128mbs & all seems ok. I left the swapfile alone, some programs require it irregardless of total RAM installed...

boran - Bought 1gb of PC2100 from Crucial for $118...so why not use it??? Works just fine with W98, providing I restrict my VCACHE!
