I'm setting up a HDTV with Bluray and a HD Comcast box for my uncle. And I've got a AV receiver, Denon AVR-486 (pdf link for manual), for the surround sound speakers. The AV receiver doesn't have HDMI, so I'm going to send the video to the TV and then the sound to the AV receiver. My question is when I do this can I output the sound not only to the speakers but also back to the TV so I can use it's speakers also? The AV receiver does have an output, but the manual says it's for VCR recording. Would that be what it's for then? Will it output stereo sound all the time even if the input is surround?
I just want to make sure I've got my eggs lined up before I go over to his place to do this, so thanks in advance!

Any reason why you're wanting to output stereo sound from the tv while you have surround sound from the A/V receiver? You'll mess up the sound field and ambiance of a soundtrack.

Yeah, the only reason I can think to do this would be if you just didn't want to have to have the receiver on all the time as you're not going to want to have the TV speakers spitting out its crappy sounding audio on top of what's coming out of the surround speakers.
