You guys know that part of the nature scene where there's a turtle and the fps drops down to less than 40fps? What exactly is causing that slow down? I mean, which technology of directX9 is slowing that scene down? I would just like to know what the programmer is using that slows down that scene to much slower than the rest of the bench.

thanks

I don't think it's the turtle, I think it's just that you see all that grass and trees and also the water and lighting in the background, and it puts a lot of load on every aspect of your card. I notice that my card drops a lot when it's showing the turtle in front of a lot of grass, but when it switches to an angle where it's just the turtle, ground, and water, it's pretty fast.

It seems to slow when showing the flowing water and the trees simultaneously. I think it is because the trees use VS2.0 and the water uses PS2.0. The sky also uses PS2.0. Everything else is DX8 effects.

It might also be because every individual leaf is individually rendered, that is a LOT of leaves :).

haha, yea, i was thinking that was taxing the hardware but there are other scenes with a lot of leaves as well.
