Question answered....Blow me up, mods!

I've been fascinated with mod logic recently.

So, for this example if some mods find a thread that they believe is a fine thread for a certain forum and there is a single mod who thinks otherwise, do the rest of them automatically get outvoted and the thread gets locked/deleted or do all the mods vote on it and majority rules?

This probably would have been better off put in your other thread. My guess, though, would be that if a decision absolutely cannot be agreed upon, then, in certain scenarios, it goes to a majority rule.

No, it's a very different question.

Maybe, but what I'm curious about is if it actually gets to that "cannot be agreed upon" stage. Does one mod get clearance from other mods before a thread is discarded or does that single mod take initiative w/o the input of other mods?

In an ideal situation, the mod would consult the others before locking. They could also put a deadlock to the Anandtech Administrator to solve.

I assure you that I am a full-blooded, carbon-based life-form, in other words, human. 😉

Generally speaking, no. Since not all moderators are on at all times, and since this is a very high trafficked forum, it would be untenable to get clearance prior to taking action.

In addition, most mods are assigned specific forums and, because of that, are most familiar with that forum and the people posting in it. It is not the business of the other moderators to be second-guessing decisions in an area where they are not up to speed.

There are, however, specialized cases that may infrequently arrise where a thread may be unlocked based on discussion among the staff.

I always wondered about that.

Is there more than 1 mod assigned per forum or is information that still one of those mod secrets???

😛

Basically from my own point of view, the moderators are working individually and as a team.

They work their own forums, but yet make group decisions as well.

It works, and now that it's been proven, it's all the more confiding that the mods who know what's good for the forum are the ones that are patrolling it...

Interesting. Wow, I didn't know that. That makes sense.

Valhalla1: Well, gee, I must be the only one that does not know then. 😛

I will repeat this once more:

I am not a mod.

Is Azraele a real person or a experimental MOD-BOT?

Ha! Azraele would be a great experimental mod-bot. Post a few news threads and list forum rules everywhere. 🙂

Ooooooooooookay, this thread is done.

I always thought Azraele was a mod because of a gentilness and patience that come through her words. A virtue not attained by all mods from what I have been reading. 🙂
