Question about your tax returns.

Senior member
So, I am a senior in college, an accounting major. I've had a couple small tax internships. I have a little experience. I was thinking about doing tax returns for college students and references for a small fee this tax season coming up.

Please complete my poll.

Thanks!

Why not intern at small local firm as a tax preparer? Most firms are thankful to have someone part-time (seasonal) for taxes.

Most people that are to incompetent to do their taxes will want either a professional place or some-one that they can trust that has some experience under their belt.

Don't 99% of college students use 1040EZ? Why would anyone need help filling that out? It really doesn't get complicated until you own a house, own stocks, have kids etc.

Who prepares your tax return?

CPA

How much do you pay?

$180-$200

What qualifications (if any) do you look for in someone preparing your tax return?

Experience, in depth knowledge of LLC, corporate, and investments.

Would you trust a senior accounting major college student preparing your tax return?

Probably not, I think they would have been studying and may not have all the details of tax law changes.

How old are you?

40

Do you itemize or take a standard deduction?

Itemize, although with the declining scale I usually get nothing.

How do you pay for your tax return?

They bill me, I mail a check.

I do it myself...itemize...etc.

If you comprehend highschool math and written english you can file your own taxes.
