Question about XP Home vs. Pro for new system

Hey all, I'm upgrading my PC (basically everything except the hard drives), in one of my posts someone suggested XP Pro... Currently I have XP Home and was hoping to use that for the new PC, since XP Pro is an extra $140 bucks that really doesn't fit in my budget. I was just wondering if you thought it was really necessary to upgrade to SP2 or if I could get by with just Home...

Thanks for your help.

SP2 is a service pack for all versions of XP. You don't need to install Pro for that.

Most people here will tell you that Home is fine. Personally, I am constantly frustrated by my girlfriend's PC (which is XP Home) and its limitations limitations. I couldn't live without Pro. In fact, I'm connected to my home PC via Remote Desktop at this very moment.

If you are in a multiple PC environment where you intend to create a domain or workgroup where resources are shared or think its something you might do in the future, Pro is almost a must if you want to do it and have the ability to secure the systems/network.
