question about xp home reg

i've been having computer problems the last week and have tried different motherboards requiring new installs of xp home(i have a legit key). this last time it said it's been used too many times.

what must i do? if i call microsoft and tell them i've been having problems and having to reinstall will they understand?

never ran into this.

They'll usually reset that key or give you a new one. They should have no issues if you explain the hardware swapping thing.
