Could someone give me a description of these [remote assistance, Auto update, and MSMsg] and how to disable them? its not for me (dont have XP yet), for a couple of friends. >>
Well, Remote Assistance is a utility which if someone needs help with their Windows XP computer, or vice versa, you can give/receive help. If you were to help someone out, you would be able to see their screen and control everything. Auto Update is a service which Windows periodically checks Windows Update to see if there's anything critical your computer needs. And, MSMsg is Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger. If you don't use it, but you use Outlook Express and Hotmail, it tends to pop up.
To disable Remote Assistance:
System Properties (WinKey + Pause) > Remote tab > Uncheck "Allow Remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer"
To disable Auto Update:
System Properties (WinKey + Pause) > Automatic Updates tab > Select "Turn off automatic updating. I want to update my computer manually"
To disable Windows/MSN Messenger, it can be found on my website:
