Question about Xbox Live

Right now I don't have an xbox, but I'm borrowing a cousins xbox for a couple of weeks. I'm waiting for some good holiday deals before I buy one. I'm wondering if I get xbox live and use it one my cousins for about a month, can I continue the service for the rest of the time period on my new one? Or do I have to sign up for a completely new plan for another xbox?
 
AFAIK the XBL account is not tied to a specific Xbox... so I think you can get it now, then use it wherever.

Can anyone confirm?
 
XBL is not tied to specific unit. You can copy your XBL account to a memory unit and the move it to your Xbox when you purchase one. I do it all the time when I visit other friends.
 
Or if you dont want to buy a memory unit, you can just use the Account Recovery feature in the MS Dash when you get the new one.
