What are the 5 or 6 rectangular "thingies" in between the memory chips and the red vrm heatsink on X1800/X1900 cards?? THey are right beside the red heatsink.

Do they need cooling??

Aren't the voltage regulators under the red heatsink?? The rectangular things also get hot during load. But what are they??

I have an x1900XT and mine get very hot. I put on some TT Copper Ramsinks (A1978) fit is good, overhangs on both sides and the thermal tape keeps them in place. For less than $5 it was worth doing

Here is a pic of someone who got a good overclock with great temps using an AMD CPU cooler and sticky copper ramsinks:

He says in the thread that he didn't notice it help or anything. Honestly, it would be best to use the same ramsinks he showed and take the red heatsink off of the voltage regulators. Then put the copper ones on them. At least, that's what I'm going to do.
