The real question is why the fvck would he be so god damn stupid as to send a mutant with super strenght powers to kill a mutant that counteracts mutant powers at close range? Especially when YOU HAVE THE FREAKING PHOENIX STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO YOU. Or better yet, WHY DON'T YOU DROP THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE ON TOP OF THE BUILDING?

The entire thing was terrible. This was just the most stupid part. A character as powerful as the phoenix demands a much more creative script. They should have just paid Singer whatever price he wanted and made a decent film.

Fox couldn't wait for singer to finish superman and then come back to do x3.

 
In the comics, the guy they got the "cure" from only made a temporary cure. After days/weeks the effect wore off. Metal chess piece + serum wearing off = another sequel. Also, I hope you stayed until after the credits. There's a pretty major twist.

I find it odd that singer would just drop x-men to do superman, knowing full well that fox wouldn't wait for him. There has to be more to the story.

If I recall correctly from Aint It Cool News or some other site....Singer was pretty pissed at the demands of the producers during the first two films. There was one particular Fox exec that was a PITA for Singer.
 
I told my friends that magneto was going slightly insane and was actually kicking the table to make the piece move hehe.
