question about wireless

does anyone know if smc makes a pci adapter for wireless pcmcia cards. if not, then is it possible to use a pci adapter from another manufacturer and would it work the same as an smc?

I do not recall ever seen one from SMC.

Using it with another brand might be a problem.

If you want to use the PCMCIA for Desktop you much better off using USB.

You can find a USB card that will cost as much as PCI adapter (may be $10 to$20 more).

Why USB?

PCI Wireless Client Card ends up been stuck behind the computer's case, resultant in obstructed transmission and poor performance. USB is connected to the Port with 2-3' cable allowing the Antenna to be placed above the System for better Transmission.

I've never really had problems with my PCI wireless card. In fact, it gets better reception than my PC Card adapter.

BTW, I have a D-Link DWL-520+ (PCI) and a D-Link DWL-650+ (PCMCIA) running with a Linksys BEFW11S4 router.
