only if your router is set differently. different wep or whatever protection settings..different dhcp settings or whatever.

If you use DSL, you would have to reinstall the software or contact verizon for help

If you use cable, you could just swap it. But please, make sure you use a wep or wpa encryption or password
 
What does DSL have to do with it? Unless its a router/modem, you wouldn't have to change anything unless you are using some special settings, or a non-default ssid, etc. (which would be a good idea anyway)
