question about wireless routers.

I need a router right now but I don't need a wireless one. I will need a wireless one in a couple months though. Can I just buy a wireless router now and use it like a regular router. (with everything being wired to it through the ports) Until I need the wireless function.

Are there any disadvantages to using a wireless router like a regular one? Like security ect....?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, you can use a wireless router without using the wireless feature. I believe some routers allow you to disable the wireless feaures. If not be sure to turn on all the security you can to make sure someone can't tap into your network.
