a few years ago my so bought a new laptop without any os, I've contacted a family member who works as a IT and asked him if he has a spare unneeded license for windows 10.
he provided me a windows 8 license and assured me it will work, it did.
now I need to reinstall a different system, I have a digital key for windows 10 pro I bought from MS and I was wondering if I can use it to install win 11 pro or I need to install windows 10 pro and then preform the upgrade to windows 11?

Thanks

If you bought it directly from MS, you likely have a retail license which can be transferred to another PC but can't technically be used at the same time on both PCs.

OEM licenses are meant for one machine and one machine only.

If you need another license, shoot me a DM and I'll send you an invite to the company store so you can get one for $40.
