Question about Windows Install Disks...

After windows10 seems to have blown away the operating system on my laptop, it sounds like I will have to do a clean install of win7 to get the laptop workin again. Really not happy, but it's a long story. Anyway, I have a win7 disk from my desktop, but not for the laptop. The laptop does have a product key however.

My question is whether I can use the win7 disk from my desktop to install windows back onto my laptop, and use the laptop's product key to authenticate. Both are home premium 64 bit versions.

Thanks. What a nightmare win10 has been for me...

All Win7 discs contain the same ISO, it's the product key that determines which version you get. Not sure about your key on the laptop since those are usually bulk purchased OEM specific. Wouldn't hurt to give it a try. You'll probably have to d/l and install some drivers from your laptop manufacturer. Get all that you can and burn to CD for later use.
