Question About WEGA television sets

I was just at my local Best Buy the other day and I saw a Wega TV for 569.99 it was a 27 incher. I saw another WEGA also 27 inches for 699.99... I was wondering if there were any difference in the quality of the picture due to the price? Are there more options for the 699.99 model or is it just better in picture? I'm pretty strapped for cash and I was hoping that the quality on the 27 inch WEGA at 569.99 would be just as good as the other 27 inchers out there? Has anybody had a chance to take a look at this? Thanks in advance, any information would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, if it's just PIP then it's all good for me, I just don't want hte quality of the pic to be inferior...

I don't know if the 27" has it but my 36" Wega XBR400 has a very cool split PIP.

Instead of the main screen with a little box in a corner the new PIP has 2 equal size boxes. Using the joystick on the remote if you press up you increase the size of the main box while decreasing the smaller one proportionately. It is very slick. I use it all the time.

The difference between the FS12 series (cheapest) and the FV26 series is PiP, better speakers, and a 3D comb filter on the FV26 instead of a 3-line comb filter on the FS12. IMO, PiP is useless, and the speakers on the FS12 are already pretty good (TV speakers will always stay TV speakers). As for the 3D comb filter, it enhances the image very slightly, but ONLY when you're using the RF cable input or composite (single yellow wire) which have a lower image quality anyways, so it's kind of pointless. Anything you watch coming from either S-Video or the Component video (3 separate wires for video) will bypass the comb filter, so the image will be the same on both TVs using these inputs.

Bottom line: I'd get the FS12 (which I did actually :))

Oh, almost forgot, the last difference is that the FV26 will do the 16x9 widescreen squeeze automatically when it detects such a signal, while you have to turn it on in the menu on the FS12. But unless you're very lazy, that's not a problem.

EDIT- the FS16 is basically a FS12 with only PiP added. It doesn't have any of the features the FV26 has.

I'll tell you what I'm doing, I'm saving my money for a true 16x9 high definition widescreen TV. Right now they run around $3500 up here in Canada, so I probably have to wait a couple years for it to drop. I'll get one when I'm out of college :(
