I bought a Ford Shelby GT back in 2007 and have lately been having issues with the stripes discoloring on the hood, roof, and trunk lid. My warrantly clearly states that these are covered for three years and various Shelby forums have multiple posters having the same issue with their stripes so it is not something I did to cause it. The problem is that my dealer has been telling me for the last four months that they are denying the warranty claim and will not replace the stripes even though it is listed among covered items. I am curious if anyone else has had warranty issues similar to this where a dealer/manufacturer would not cover the cost to repair/replace something defective. Are there any courses of action I should be taking or am I simply SOL unless Ford/Shelby clears the warranty claim with my dealer?

1 - Take it to another dealer for a second opinion. Mention nothing of the previous dealer or their view when there.
2 - If you get trouble again, cite many other reports and successful claims
3 - Contact Ford directly and explain your problem at the Dealer and state you expect 'goodwill'.

Your warranty should cover that. The dealer is just dicking you around.

Make sure your complaints are documented. That way it will be much more difficult for them to give you the run around and try to stall you until the warranty is up.

Show them the web sites with the compalints as well.

Judging by the various posts, it seems like they are going to start peeling, too.

I did take it to another dealer and they said they were having the same issues with Ford denying warranty replacements for the stripes. It is all over the Shelbyautos forum about other people having this issue. I even have the original warranty documentation that came with the car that lists what is covered for 3 years and the stripes are included in that list.
