Question about VPN

We are looking at installing VPN in our facility ... so that folks can access our network securely from home (through the public internet).

The options are:

- hardware VPN box ... that comes with proprietary client software that needs to get installed on every remote PC that plans to connect to our network.

- software VPN

Can someone tell me the difference between the two ... i.e their inherent pros and cons.

Also ... the VPN box we are looking at costs $1500 !! But I remember seeing Linksys selling a VPN router for $199 ... what is the difference between these two ?

Microsoft Windows XP comes with VPN in it ... will it be able to do a capable job ?

Thanks !!!

The Linksys boxes only accept two concurrent VPN session IIRC. But they do it just fine and work with MS VPN Client (connector....whatever you wanna call it) just fine.

If I can ask which $1500 box are you lookin @ ?
