Question about vonage

Do you need a router to connect the vonage thing? Does your computer and modem need to be on to use vonage?
 
Vonage provides a router (they sent me a Linksys) that you hook up to your cable modem. Basic setup is plug DSL/cable modem into Vonage router then plug phone into port on back of Vonage router. Turn router on and enjoy. Your router & cable/DSL modem need to be on in order to use Vonage but not your PC unless you use their Softphone software.
