Hey everybody,

sorry if this is in the wrong forum, i wasn't too sure where to put it.

Anyways, i'm thinking of getting vonage for my telephone needs. It seems like a pretty good deal. What i'm wondering though is: how badly will it consume my internet usage per month? what i mean is, right now i'm on telus high speed internet and i'm allowed 10 Gb upload and 10 Gb download. I use almost all of my download amount and a fair amount of my upload amount. will using vonage push me over my limit, or does it not work this way? I would use it fairly regularly, say 700 minutes a month.

Thanks so much for the help

Not sure. If possible, you should try to get unlimited internet access first. I use Vonage, and it requires at least 90kbps upstream bandwidth to function properly, so I would imagine if you are talking for 700 minutes, that would be quite a bit of data in both directions.

For one thing, with 384kbps upload, you CANNOT host an online game and talk on the phone at the same time. If you get vonage, dont be planning on doing any serious uploading while the phone is in use.

thanks for the help guys. so vonage isn't really the best way to go for heavy internet users like myself.... interesting.

and what is this about unlimited internet access?? i have never heard of something like that. Where i am, (BC Canada) our choices of internet is either telus DSL or Shaw Cable and both have a limit on uploading/downloading amounts. i think they are both around 10 gigs.

Most of us are in the U.S. and don't have those silly restrictions. :)

We get unlimited upload/download per month. No quotas. That's competition for you.
