Hey guys,

I want to get VoIP, between licensing fees, taxes etc a landline up here in Canada amounts to atleast 40 bucks a month no including long distance, which is something I use a lot.

Now my question is, do I have to get a special type of phone for VoIP?

Thanks

No, you get a phone adapter that plugs into ethernet and you can plug any phone into it.

There are some phones that have VOIP capability, meaning you can plug them directly into ethernet.

I believe Vonage usually comes with an adapter such as a Linksys PAP2 so you can hook any regular phone up to it

Vonage includes a MTA that you just plug a phone into. If you want to spend a little bit of time you can hook it directly into your house's phone line system and just use any phone with any jack in the house that you want.
