I have a DSL connection routed between four computers. I'd really like to VNC into my computer when I'm away from home and I was wondering if there was a way to do it since my router automatically sets up a firewall . . .anybody know? thx!

I use vnc sometimes from work to one box at home, I have a software firewall, but I would imagine with a hardware one that you can just find out what port it needs, and enable that and use a password and you would probably be fine.

VNC uses ports 5900 - 5999, depending on the display number you're opening (e.g. Display 0 is port 5900). That's for the VNCViewer, the java app that runs in your browser uses ports 5800 - 5899 in the same manner.

This is covered in the VNC documentation.

Damaged, I like it alot since it's freeware. I use it daily for easy things on my servers to save all that leg work :)

Yeah I do too but one machine it would conflict with this custom accounting program so I ended up using pcanywhere for that.
