Question about vista and compatability

I just ordered a new T61 thinkpad with Vista Home Professional straight from Lenovo, but I still have plenty of time to switch to XP Pro, should I?

Is Vista even worth it at this point in the game? My big concern is: will I definitely be able to play games like Fallout or Quake 3 on Vista? Am I likely to have less problems with new computer loaded with Vista then I am with XP. Does vista offer anything for the average user in the long term??

Well, I can only speak of my experience...but so far I'm pleased with Vista. It's snappier than XP with the right hardware and its security features are much more robust.

I regularly game in Vista and have no problems so far with compatibility or performance; I haven't tried the games you mentioned, however. My only guess is that if they run fine on XP they should also run in Vista, but perhaps someone with first hand experience could chime in.

I have a Pentium Core 2 Duo 2GHz, 2 Gig ram, the upgraded nVida video card, do you think this will run ok pretty smoothly?
