I've got a friend who's got a Diamond Viper II (Savage 2000). While not the best card, it works well enough for her needs ($50 for a 32mb card with composite and S video out wasn't that bad--if only Radoen LE had been available then though!). I have some suspicions that all may not be well with it though. I set the jumpers for AGP 4x mode, yet Powerstrip constantly reports 2x mode now though it used to say 4x. Secondly, it says sideband addressing is hardware supported but not turned on. Plus, Sandra's diagnostic reports that it has 28mb of video memory, not 32. Is it misreporting, or is there 4mb being used at the time, or is there somehow one 4mb memory chip gone "bad?" Forgive the ignorance, but I'm curious to find out if the lackluster performance is just the card in general, or if this particular card is worse.
