Didnt really know if this belonged in the mobo, CPU, OS, or software forum, so Ill just throw it up here(and besides, this forum has by far the most visitors:)).

Anyway, when running Win2K on a Duron/KT133(A7V) platform, how should the 4in1's be installed?
Last time I installed them the system wouldnt even load to the login screen, it just went black on me after the Win2K splash went away.

I've had this problem before with a MVP3 board and Win98, that time I wasnt using 4in1's though, that was the standalone busmaster drivers causing the problem.

Should the busmaster drivers be left out of the installation?

I have a dual boot 98SE-2000 system, and only install the AGP driver in either OS. Works very well for me. I find that in benchmarking the drives either with Sandra or HD Tach, the busmaster drivers that Windows installs out performs the 4-in-1's.

EDIT: Here is the Sandra Drive Benchmark in Win98SE. I have to wait for SiSoft Samantha to run one in 2000 :)

By default, the latest VIA 4-in-1 package doesn't install IDE drivers at all in Win98/ME/2K, just updates some bus mastering-related .inf files and registery settings if anything. I've never experienced any problems that were caused by VIA 4-in-1's.

Your blank-screen crash sounds like it could have something to do with the infamous Win2K AGP problem, which AFAIK has something to do with AGP aperture memory management. You might want to install this patch before the 4-in-1's.
