Question about VGA Silencer and Northbridge heatsinks

(maybe this belongs in cooling)

I've been reading a lot about the capabilities of the Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer and I'm really close to buying it. The only thing bugging me about it is that I've heard people have had to modify the cooler so that it won't bump some of the larger northbridge heatsinks. I was wondering if anyone has had this experience, and if so, with what boards?

I don't see how the northbridge heatsink will be remotely affected by the VGA Silencer? Since you have to install it on the side of the video card away from the northbridge, your video card has to make contact with the NB before the VGA cooler does.

There's a plastic backplate that extends quite a ways out from the back of the card. I found the place I saw it mentioned, a review on newegg:

"I needed to cut the backplate plastic to clear the northbridge heatsink on my Abit IS7. If you have one of these motherboards or any motherboard with a tall northbridge heatsink close to the video card, watch out. It works though... MUCH better than stock."
