question about vbulletin

Hi, if anyone can answer this....seems "complicated" over at the vbulletin forum

Does anyone know, once a post or a thread has been deleted/removed, is there any record of it ? Would there be any record of it having been deleted, or gone without a trace

Well YES,if the database is restored to a previous point then messages,PMs that were in the system would return yes.... (I myself have had Pms come back when the DB was restored for various reasons on other VBB sites im on)

ok thanks.....so say a thread 6 months ago, which got deleted at the time.....would there be an "undeleteable" record of the thread having taken place ? (even just an undeletable record of the thread title, if not the actual contents -- altho if there are undeleteable copies of all posts......thats even better) or is everything "editable" by the admin/owner, so if they wanted to remove all trace of a thread/post having taken place, they could

There is a differentiation between soft delete and hard delete. Soft deletion just basically hides the thread for everyone who isn't an admin. Hard delete removes it like it was never there in the first place.

You can setup permissions/restrictions for soft/hard deletions.

k thanks...so, if an admin wanted to remove threads/posts like they never existed (and no record of even the subject line),, they could ?

Would the only record of the subject be in the log, but could even that log file be edited ?

Yes they do but its still in the database! (If it was restored that message would come back (They would have to re-delete it again))
