Question about using a small compressor to cool......

I was wondering if it would be safe to use a small compressor to cool my water in my watercooler setup? I ripped one from a small fridge and the freezer part is what gets cold, I was thinking of putting this in a big bucket or something but would it be safe it ran 24/7? Would using a fan or something to cool the coils that get hot help get the other coils cold?
