question about usernames and accounts

Ok, I was curious to see if someone had picked the nickname "Spike" because I never checked about that when I first joined. It turns out that someone did sign up for the name back in october of 1999. they have not, however, ever posted on the forums. I was wondering if your name "expires" after a lapse of so long. Like, if someone signs up for a name, but never logs on again, what happens then? I am curious because If they do lose their account someday I would like to see if I can change my nickname to just Spike as opposed to Spike2756. any thoughts from the mods? thanks

ok, I have a dumb question for you then... how do you PM the moderator? Do I go and look for another thread that has a post by the moderator in it and pm him from there or do I PM zuni? it seems that most of the time the mods edit messages instead of making their own. thanks
