Question about USB HDD case

I want to buy one of those external usb hard drive cases. I do not know, though, what hard drives are best to put in these things. Does anyone know what hard drives would be good for this, something that is more shock resistant.

The full size ones use standard HDDs. The smaller ones use laptop 2.5" HDDs. I have two of them, but not USB. I went with Firewire . . . it is faster, more reliable, and really easy to install and use. Like USB it is hot pluggable.
