Question about USB front panel connectors

My buddy's Thermaltake has the front panel USB connectors which have only 1 row of 5 slots while his motherboard, the Gigabyte K8U has the standard 9 pin double row connector. Is there any way to connect his front panel USB ports?

Why not? USB connectors consist of 4 standard pins plus sometimes a shield. Each of your front panel connectors will fit on one row of the pins side-by-side. Usually the shield connects to the same ground pin as the ground wire (If that's the case, then the ground wire in the shell will be noticeably thicker than the other wires . If the shield is separate, it may be in the 5th position. But some mobos lack shield pins in the 5th position, so you have to get creative. You also may have to shuffle the contacts within the shell to get the pinouts to match up with your mobo - not hard at all.
