question about usb and PCMCIA cards...

i was wondering if they sell adapters that let you connect PCMCIA carsd to your desktop computer and which are the best (if so). it sucks that all the good deals have pcmcia carsd instead of usb :(. Thanks.

Yes, they do have adapters for that sort of thing. I seemed to only find one company making PCI-to-PCMCIA, called Elan. Here's an example of one of their products:

Googling around a little more can probably find some a bit cheaper (that's low-profile, for instance). Eventually, however, it seems that the money you spend on an adapter would destroy any savings you might be able to get over standalone cards.

if you find a PCMCIA->USB 1/2 then let me know too, because I want to get a wireless network card for when I put a computer in my car, but being in the trunk with a PCI card = blocked out by metal of car chassis. If I got the PCMCIA version of the D-Link card, I would run it through USB to the front of the car to attach it to the window or something. (I would only get the USB network device as a last resort, because with the PCMCIA, i could get 44Mbps, 11Mbps with the regular USB one)
