I just checked the tracking on a UPS package and even though the scheduled delivery is on 1/30/06 is says its out for delivery as of 12:27 A.M.? I didn't think UPS delivered on Saturday unless you paid extra for it. Hey if it shows up today I wouldn't be complaining. :)

To my knowledge they don't deliver on Sat unless you have their overnight service. Dunno which overnight service though. Maybe all overnighters.

UPS was supposed to have my laptop at my door yesterday (express service)....but for some odd reason, they claimed my package spent the whole day (since 9AM) in AK trying to get clearence. It checked this morning, it finally got the go ahead......but I live in MA, so a today delivery points to no.

One thing that I noticed that UPS does is that when they mean it has been sent for shipping, all it means is that the package was either picked up or dopped off. It does not mean your package has ben sorted yet. When they say out for delivery, it just means it was scanned and put on the truck. For all you know, that truck may not move till Monday morning.

It was probably scanned onto a truck that was loaded at that time. The truck was closed, locked and the package will be delivered on Monday. That was just the last time that the package will be scanned until it's dropped off at your door.

What a crock:( Zappos, 2 day delivery....not here till Monday, yet it was "shipped" on Thursday around noon. My laptop, "shipped" Thursday around 6:30 with express, will not be here till Monday ( I guess foriegn shipping is the exception).

Thanks for the info. I've found the day the package was actually shipped doesn't count towards something like 2 day shipping. It starts on the next business day. /shrug

If you want to be more confused.....go to the usps website and look at the delivery time for Media Mail. They claim 2-9 days.

It's a good chance you may receive it today. If there are'nt enough packages to fill the truck on Saturday, they will load some Monday packages to keep the van full. Smart business - keeps delivery costs down and customers happy.

Packages are held for clearance by Customs, not UPS. In fact, UPS has absolutely no say in which packages are flagged and how long they will be held.

I know that but, I have had packages held for clearence before, and they were never held for clearence for over 24 hours.

Package can be held for days. Like I said, UPS has no power whatsoever when it comes to Customs clearance.

It's possible that shipper did not provide adequate documentation. It's also possible that shipper has been flagged. Packages from some countries are scrutinized more rigorously then from other. Bottom line is, relax, don't worry. Keep in mind that it's also weekend, Customs agents like their days off too ;)

Is it an IBM/Lenovo product? I finally heard why all my IBM packages seem to get caught up in customs after arriving in AK from HK.... They send HUGE bulk shipments and word from IBM is that it can literally take a day or two for customs to sort through all their packages.
