Question about Upgrading Motherboard

Hey all,

I've got a fairly recent shuttle rig, but the small form factor glow wore off so now I'm in the market for a new case and mobo. I read one thread saying that a reformat and clean install is recommended when replacing a motherboard. Is that the general consensus?

Also, I have two partitions on my current HD, one with program files etc and one with all my media. Will I really only have to reformat the first even if I do a clean XP install?
