Question about upgrading Dell Laptop RAM

I have a Dell Inspiron 600m running with 256 mb (two sticks of 128 mb DDR 266 mHz).
I want to upgrade the memory on the system, and Dell's site sells 512mb sticks and 1 gb sticks (which are DDR 333mHz).
I was thinking of buying a 512 and replacing one of my 128 sticks. I don't know tho if the sticks are running dual channel, and whether the assymetric set up of both size and speed would seriously degrade performance.
Any help/tips are appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

You can use CPUz to determine if it's running dual but I am pretty sure that if you have DDR it's an 855 based chipset which is single channel only, the 915 is dual channel but uses DDR2. I wouldn't get the memory directly from dell, they tend to be overpriced. It definaly uses PC2700 DDR SODIMMS. I would just get a 512mb PC2700 stick and replace both of your 128mb modules with that.
