Question about un-installing NVidia Drivers

DaveyTN

Senior member
When I go to control panel / add remove programs and select nVidia drivers, it gives me the option to

- Remove all NVIDIA drivers, including Display
- Remove all NVIDIA drivers, except Display

Which do I choose? If I choose "including Display", will I have a hard time rebooting and seeing anything on the screen?

I will be rebooting with a new card installed. Going from NVidia to ATI. Thanks!!

Well, if I would have just looked, I would have found this. I found out what I need to do. Thanks anyway guys !!

You're good. The new card will boot up (without drivers installed) and will use a Windows legacy low resolution VGA process to give you a display until you install the new ATI drivers.

However, since you are going from NV to ATI, you will have to use Driver Cleaner Pro v1.5 (free program).

You'll need to install DC Pro now, and reboot, before anything.

Then:
1) Use Add/Remove to remove both of those nV items. *then do not reboot*
2) Use DCPro v1.5 to remove 'nVidia' from the drop down selection menu.
3) Shut down, and swap cards.
4) fire back up, and install new ATI drivers, and you are good to go.
