Question about U160 IBM SCSI harddrive.

I'm not running this Harddrive on a U160 controller. It's on a Tekram 390U2W with 80m/s max transfer. This IBM drive has 4.9ms access time.

My question is, does my access time remain the same whether on a U160 or U2W controller??

yes access time is the same
Transfer speed should be the same as well. SCSI provides overall bandwidt so U160 gives you a total of 160mb/s. No drive is capable of this but if you have a large raid array you are likely to do around 80 or more. It just gives you head room and burst speed.

Alright, then since my PCI bus max is 132m/s, I'm not utilizing the U160 anyhow.
